ZenLife Center for Healing offers instructor-led Yin yoga several times a week. The following sections go into detail about what yin yoga is and how it can bring healing and vitality to your daily life! Discover peace and deep-body tension relief with us through yin yoga at ZenLife Center for Healing.
Yin yoga comes from exactly what you’d guess – yin and yang! These two opposing energies originated from Taoism philosophy. The yoga practice itself is not a traditional practice despite the yin and yang philosophy dating back to ancient times.
Yin is the dark and feminine counterpart that represents the earth and passivity. You find yin energy in your stabilizing connective structures such as your tissues, ligaments, and bones. These are otherwise known as “fascia,” which this yoga practice aims to lengthen and relax.
Yin yoga is built around 3 principles: edge, relative stillness, and time:
Yin yoga is passive unlike its opposing practice, yang yoga, the type which actively engages your muscles. Passivity does not equal ease, however! The movements, while slow and purposeful, are often held for a long time – an average of 3 to 5 minutes.
Yin yoga poses, or “asanas” improve the flow of your qi (chi) as you focus on the challenge of being truly still and surrendering. Props like blocks, belts, blankets, and even chairs are used to assist you into the asanas.
If you are looking for a relaxing meditative class to stretch you and put your mind and body at ease, come check us out! We believe anyone can practice. Those who come with an open heart and effort will be able to turn the benefits of yin yoga into a reality.
Always check with your doctor if you are pregnant or injured or have any other health conditions that could put you at risk to be sure this practice will still be safe for you.
At this BYOM (Bring Your Own Mat) class, you can expect a deep, relaxing stretch class aimed to release the tension in your fascia. Our studio provides all other props you may use . Your instructor will let you know at the beginning of class what you’ll be using and where to grab it!
ZenLife does have some mats for rent if you cannot bring your own. Come in comfortable clothes and be ready to jump right in – these classes don’t have much of a warm-up because it is a slower, more relaxing practice.
We offer a variety of yoga classes and levels that challenge and inspire our students. Come turn up the heat in a beginner-level heated vinyasa class, or detox with us in an Ashtanga vinyasa class! You may also wish to join us for a midday rest session or a weekend Kundalini yoga class.
We offer 1:1 healing sessions with Reiki, Hypnosis, Rapid Eye Technology, and Tibetan Bowl and Frequency healing. All of what we provide through our center is designed to enlighten and heal. Come experience it for yourself!
We can’t wait to see you at our Yin yoga class! Sign up here for a spot in our class this week with one of our incredible instructors.
