DESCRIPTION:Located 20 minutes east of Payson AZ this hike is 2.5 miles round trip and should take roughly an hour and 15 minutes to complete. There are several beautiful streams along the way and we will be stopping to enjoy the amazing scenery as we go. Brings plenty of water and snacks. We will be meeting at the trailhead at 9AM. SUMMARY:Yoga Therapy: Workshop for Neck and Shoulders
DESCRIPTION:We are upright\, vertical people. As such we use our upper body for all the many tasks we encounter. Imbalances in our skeletal alignment as well as poor coordination with the lower extremities coupled with the demands of our lifestyles the upper body to include the arms\, hands\, neck and shoulder take are under continuous stress and subject to many overuse issues as well as injury such as rotator cuff strains/tears and frozen shoulder in addition to other chronic conditions. This workshop will address these two specific issues of the shoulder girdle but also work on lack of mobility and poor alignment which can lead to pain. In the workshop focus will be on correction of alignment habits that can create the above mentioned conditions and through detailed instruction and appropriate asana students will develop tools to continue activities\, work and recreation\, that are important for healing as well as rebuilding healthy movement in the upper body. \n\n\n\nCarlyn Sikes is a Level 2 CIYT and a Certified Yoga Therapist (CYT). Having taught\, practiced and studied Iyengar Yoga for 25+ years she has worked with many different abilities and levels of students as well as students with different backgrounds in Yoga. DESCRIPTION:Neurographic art is a mindful art practice used to map new neural connections through drawing. When we associate a positive thought to a new neuropathway\, we can reinforce it. We draw so that we can visually connect that which we want to reinforce. Through repetition\, we can increase the efficiency of the positivefeelings and manifest something healthier and with increased well-being as the result. Through the process\, we change our beliefs and meaning we associated with events to better-feeling outcomes.Do you struggle with any role you play in your personal or professional life? What about expectations put upon you by family and coworkers? Do you want to learn a new hobby\, but you don’t have time? What about time for self-care?Neurographic Art helps us bring to the forefront something new we want to create in our lives. This form of meditative painting and drawing allows us to open up and let the universe support us. In this practice\, we learn to harmonize this new “space” in our lives\, so that it fits in and resonates with the rest of our lives. \n\n\n\nMeet the instructor! \n\n\n\nHi! My name is Maria Gillette. I embarked on my therapeutic art journey in 2022 after 4 years of experimenting with a variety of art forms. In 2018 I started with mixed media\,casting clay pieces and painting them\, along with using textured pastes on canvas. I moved on to resin and alcohol inks and spent 2 years making both functional and decorative pieces to sell. When a big change challenged my family in 2022\, I needed anoutlet that would allow me to make art for my own happiness. I focused more on my mental well-being than on “sellable” art. I dove into intuitive “process” art and finally merged that into art with an emotional support element\, hence therapeutic art. I have been facilitating groups since October ’22. SUMMARY:Salt River Paddle Board & Kayaking Activity
DESCRIPTION:Advisory: People should only plan to participate in this event if they are 18 years of age\, in good physical health and have either kayaked or paddle boarded on the Salt River in the past. The Salt River is a very powerful and fast body of water and should not be attempted by those who have never done it before unless accompanied by someone who has been. \n\n\n\nIn addition\, everyone who attends is responsible to bring their own paddle board/kayak and life vests. \n\n\n\nAll of that being said: We will be meeting at the Phon D Sutton Recreation Area at 6AM and we will be leaving to go to Blue Point Recreation Area at 6:15AM. So plan on arriving at Phon D before 6AM just to be on the safe side. \n\n\n\nPlan to bring sun screen\, snacks and plenty of water as we enjoy this beautiful day out on the River ! Every vehicle will need a Tonto daily pass.
